Line sensor camera using Hamamatsu Photonics' InGaAs sensor, which has high sensitivity in the near-infrared range of 900 to 1700 nm!
Near-infrared light is not visible to the human eye, but it is a safe light that is also included in sunlight. It is most easily absorbed by objects and does not particularly react to color or heat; however, when light containing near-infrared is directed at a subject, differences in the material of the subject result in variations in light reflection and absorption, which are captured as images. It can visualize what is difficult to capture with CCD/CMOS cameras, making it ideal for applications such as laser alignment and defect inspection of silicon wafers.
